Verse 1 The fire and the knife, I carry both in silence, Steps echo on the path I do not choose. The wood is on his shoulders like a question— And still, I say, “The Lord will surely prove.” Three days through dust and dreamless lands, My soul in tethered thread. The child beside me, eyes of trust, Unknowing what lies ahead. We speak in fragments—just enough, His laughter cracks the sky. But every word weighs heavy now, Beneath Jehovah’s eye. **On this mountain, I raise my hands, Not to strike, but to believe. In the silence where I cannot stand, Grace waits in the unseen. A voice like thunder through the veil— “Do not lay your hand.” On this mountain, He will provide, And mercy walks the land.** I built the altar stone by stone, Each one a silent prayer. My fingers tremble as I bind The son whom angels stare. His breath is calm—too calm, too pure— As if he somehow knows. And I, undone by love and fear, Lift up the blade so slow. The moment hangs like breaking dawn, Where time and truth align. The blade held still in sovereign pause— Divine in its design. A rustle in the thorny hush, A ram with crowned head caught. And I fall down in ash and dust, Undone by what I'm taught. **On this mountain, I raise my hands, Not to strike, but to believe. In the silence where I cannot stand, Grace waits in the unseen. A voice like thunder through the veil— “Do not lay your hand.” On this mountain, He will provide, And mercy walks the land.** Ashes where the altar stood, And still the fire burns. A covenant carved into the wood— A faith that always learns. He walks beside me once again, No shadow in his stride. And I know now, without the blade, The offering was *inside*.
